Tim Costello

Tim Costello AO is a well-known social justice advocate. He is a Baptist minister, former CEO of World Vision Australia, and currently a Senior Fellow for CPX and Executive Director of Micah Australia.

Compassion literally means, in the root meaning of the word, to “suffer with”. Most of us want costless compassion; write the cheque, offer the smile. To actually “suffer with” is really against our desires not to be involved, not to expose ourselves. But the cost of compassion does lead, I think, to profound happiness, to profound humanity. It goes to the depth of what we were made to be. The average reader will read it in an hour and a half to two hours, but I hope they will find that there is still depth and challenge in a short read.
