What faith book has been influential for you?

John O'Donahue- Eternal Echoes, I carried it around for three years and it restored my faith.

What is your go-to piece of Scripture?

John 5:39-40- You study[c]the Scriptures diligently because you think that in them you have eternal life. These are the very Scriptures that testify about me, yet you refuse to come to me to have life.

Apart from Jesus, obviously, which person in the Bible would you most like to have dinner with?

King David the creative, broken bard.

What is your favourite meal?

Pasta covered in chilli oil.

When are you happiest?

Writing. Creating. Performing.

What words or phrases do you most over-use?


Where can you see God’s hand in your creative process of writing?

My writing is my prayer. It is the way I connect with God. To allow myself the space to delve inwards and dredge the light and the shadow up from the inner life and offer it on the page toward God.

What is your favourite writing procrastination activity?

The busyness of organising my life.

What spiritual practice do you find the most helpful?

Writing. Reflecting. Running.

Writing. Reflecting. Running.

What is your favourite animal, and why?

The Polar bear … all that strength and power wrapped in shaggy white furry comfort.

A fruit tree … lets go with a fig.

Mary Poppins.

If you had to witness to one of the events recorded in the Bible, which one would it be?

Jesus telling stories.
